Yuh-Fen Tseng obteve seu doutorado pela Universidade Nacional de Artes de Taipé e seu mestrado pela Universidade de Nova York. Especialista em música austronésia e música asiática, ela atua atualmente como professora no departamento de música da Universidade Nacional de Jiayi, em Taiwan. Com formação profissional em etnomusicologia, Yuh-Fen Tseng percebeu a urgência de preservar as tradições musicais que estão desaparecendo rapidamente. Por isso, dedicou-se à pesquisa de campo da música aborígene taiwanesa, registrando, transcrevendo, analisando e interpretando a música tribal com o objetivo de mantê-la viva.
